This is a cover of an AURORA song that I recorded for a TV show in Norway. They did this wonderful thing of arranging for young Norwegian artists to meet other artists who had sort of been a favourite of theirs, with the surprise being a performance of one of the young artist’s own songs.

Looking through AURORA’s catalogue, I wanted to find something that I could connect to, lyric-wise, but also something that I could hear myself do musically, with just a guitar. I ended up tuning the guitar down to a B flat to find the right key that would suit my range, and it worked so well. I really feel like I made my own version of it and it felt really lovely to be able to play that for her.

There are always some nervous feelings when you perform for TV, because you don’t want to ruin the take, but I felt really safe doing this song in this way, and it was very emotional and a beautiful experience to see her come into the room and sit down on the floor in front of me to listen.
